To honour the country’s “Armed forces Day” celebrations, His Excellency Mr. Macky Sall, the President of the Republic of Senegal, commissioned a commemorative artwork from Manufactures Sénégalaises Des Arts Décoratifs, MSAD. For the second year in a row, the commission was awarded to the Senegalese “artiste plasticien” and 3D visual artist, Aziz N’Diaye.
In a formal ceremony held on 11 November 2022 at the Presidential Palace in Dakar, Senegal, Aziz N’Diaye’s most recent piece was unveiled and presented to H.E. Mr. Macky Sall.
Aziz N’Diaye has collaborated with the Cuomo Foundation on a number of significant projects, most notably the Sene’Gala charity art event (Monaco, 2008), where he was one of a group of Senegalese artists chosen by Kalidou Kassé (founder of the Atelier du Sahel) to represent his nation’s contemporary art scene.
More recently, the artist group Groupe D-10, which he established, was commissioned to create artistic murals for the interior and exterior of the Cuomo Cardio-Paediatric Centre (Dakar 2016).Over the years the Foundation has commissioned a number of additional works by Aziz including the commemorative Award for the 2014 No finish Line ceremony held in Monaco.
Aziz N’Diaye lives and works in the city of Thies, 70 kms outside of Dakar where he paints and creates objects using recycled materials for the MSAD. Watch the unveiling ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, in the presence of H.E. Mr Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal
